TMNT Inspired Crochet Beanie

My little one is infatuated with the ninja turtles so I have decided to make her a beanie. To get a good fit you do need to measure around the head take the measurement and divide it by pi 3.14. The beanie I'm working on is for a 3-5yr. old with a head of 20" circumference. So the radius of my crown will be 6.36 or rounded off to 6. Here is the pattern.

Materials needed.

Worsted weight yarn main color and accent color
J/10- 6.00mm hook (for hat)
G/6-4.25mm (for eyes)
Yarn needle
Ruler
R1: with main color, form magic ring. 10 dc into the magic ring; sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [10]
R2: ch 2 counts as first dc. 2 dc in each st around, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [20]
R3: ch 2 and dc same stitch (1 dc in the first st, 2 dc in the next st) 10 x, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [30]
R4: ch 2,dc into same stitch ( 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts,1 dc in the next ) 10 x, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [40]
R5: ch 2, dc into the same stitch (1 dc in each of the next 3 sts, then 2dc into the next) 10 x, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [50]

Change color to accent (mask) BUT DO NOT CUT MAIN COLOR
R6- R10: ch 2, 1 dc in each st around, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [50]
When slip stitching to the 1st dc pull both the accent and main color through. Once through pull the main color tight and only chain 2 with the accent color. (Hope that makes sense). This way you can carry through the main color to make switching easier.
R11: cut accent color and change to main color. Stitch in tail of accent color. Ch 2, 1dc into each st around, sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [50]
R 12: ch 2; 1 dc into each st around; sl st to the 1st dc of the round to join [50]
R13: ch 1; sc into each st around loosely; sl st to the 1st sc of the round to join [50]. Fasten off.

Eyes (make 2)
R1: With white yarn ch. 6 sc in 1st ch from hook. 1sc in each of the next 5, in the last chain 5sc. Make turn and 1sc down the other side. Sl st into the 1st st. [15]
R2: ch. 1 and 1sc in each all around. Slip stitch to the 1st st [15]
R3: change color to green slip stitch into each st all around and slip stitch into the  1st.  [15]
R4: change color to red ch 1, and 1sc into the next 9 st. in the 10th st sl st.
R5: Ch.1 and turn. 1sc into each st. [10].
Fasten off with long tail to sew onto beanie.
