Poop and detoxing --- part of an overall healthy lifestyle

Image
I wanted to start off by letting you know that I’m feeling great physically, mentally I have some setbacks. My mother is in the hospital at the moment it seems that the cancer has spread and the reason for the unbearable pain she had been feeling lately. So my mind has not been in the right place, and my emotional eating is getting the best of me.   I am not ready to throw in the towel, so to help with the eating I decided to have fresh juice or detox tea to help me stay full and trying to sneak in sugary snacks.                Fresh juice or green smoothies are great for cleaning out ones digestive system and so is the recipe I’m going to give you for the detox tea. As a mom I do stool checks every once in a while. I know gross right! However, stool can tell you a lot about your digestive health and I want to make sure my kids are healthy. If I do see anything unusual I can talk to the doctor about it, without having my kids suffer the embarrassment of giving

Week 2 Ramp It UP!!! Ouch!!

Week One of Slim in 6®, was awesome. This first part, Start it Up ® is to get you familiar with the moves and just to ease you into the program but you will see some changes and soreness. I posted my measurements and weight on day one and I have to say I was afraid to take them again today. I completed each day by doing the Slim and Limber® before the workout this helped in minimizing the soreness. I took Saturday as my rest day and today Sunday I began Ramp It Up®. This next part contains the same moves you learned in Start it Up with the addition of a few new moves to push you a little. Also the movements are faster, so if you have not mastered the moves in the first part DO NOT go on to Ramp It Up, and also if it is too much for you go back to Start It Up. I have to admit that right now after my workout my legs feel like jelly. I took a nice long hot shower to help my muscles but still feel weak in the knees. Lol!!  My new measurements to start the

Leche de Alpiste (canary seed milk)

It sounds odd and probably unappealing, but it is actually great tasting. You can make your own or buy it already prepared powdered to which you just add to water. Its cheaper like most things to make it yourself and you know what is going into it, bonus. This "milk" contains protein, fiber and antioxidants and amino acids. All of these things are great for your body especially when working out. Alpiste offers as much as 10g of protein per serving , which is about 1/2 cup. Another benefit is this enzymatic drink helps control cholesterol and lower high blood pressure. The amazing milk can also detoxify your organs such as your liver and kidneys. The lipase enzyme also helps in controlling body weight, the enzyme helps the body eleminate  fats out of the body more effeciantly . This drink is an overall general health supplement. You can buy the seed in some supermarkets, that cater to the Hispanic population. You can also buy the seed or powder in health stores th

Day 2 ... I'm Feeling it :)

Day 2 is almost over, but I got a lot done especially considering that my little one has the stomach flu. Today after breakfast ( A new habit for me) I cleaned house while my stomach settled ( not used to eating so early). After I got that done I did some some prep work for my work out. First thing,  got my tools together. For  Start it up I just needed a mat and my resistance band. Then I got my water and got to work. It was hard going at first because of the soreness in my legs but as I got into it, felt better.                                                                  Did all three tapes. ( yes tapes!) Still smiling...out of breath but still good. I also signed up on www.wowy.com to keep track of my workouts and measurements and added encouragement. Now it was time for my post-work meal which was yummy. Using my Nutribullet I made myself a protein shake that helped my body recover and it was filling, oh and satisfied my sweet tooth. Peanut Butt

Day 1, Ready to Go!!!

Okay so here I go first thing I did was get everyone off to school and work. Next I actually had breakfast, I normally don't eat first thing in the morning its usually closer to 11am before I have a bite to eat. This morning I had breakfast by 7:15. For breakfast I had a light pre-workout meal, 2 pieces of whole wheat toast with sunflower seed butter and a smear of sugar-free peach preserves, and of course my cup of coffee. Oh also before I had breakfast I had my serving 1/2cup of canary seed milk. Later I will post about its benefits and how to prepare it. My next step is to get my equipment together and hydrate before I start my workout. If your going to start a workout program make sure you see your doctor and get a full physical, head to toe and blood-work done. I did this last week got my results on Friday, I'm very healthy except for the fact that my BMI says I am OBESE!!! The doctor has actually prescribed diet pills to help me with my over eating. I am an emotio

Crafting and Weight gain...ugh!!!

Like most women I like to think that I can do it all, take care of the kids, keep the house sparkling have dinner ready before the hubby gets home and all my crafts done during my daughters quiet time. That never happens, instead my totally scheduled day is disrupted constantly by other peoples (family) needs. So, my day consists of waking up making breakfast, and lunches, and a pot of coffee. Wake hubby up first, Alyssa next, so that she can get ready for school. While they get ready i pack hubby's lunch and serve us both a cup of coffee, and prepare our canary seed milk. After they leave around 7am I wake up Brianna, while she gets ready I have breakfast and put on my workout clothes. When she leaves at 8 I'm ready to workout.        What happens when I pop in the tape, my phone will ring the driver ( we own a big rig) will call i have to meet him, so he can get paid. Therefore I get my 4yo up and get her ready and off to the bank I go to get the driver's pay an
